A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME...

My name is Ethan Williamson, and I'm a 24-year-old transgender man from Scotland. I have just completed a master's degree in Film Studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, where my research interests covered areas of Film Theory, Film-Philosophy, and Posthumanism. My master's Dissertation was titled "Female Posthuman Bodies: Core Experiences of Sexuality and Gender in Under the Skin (2013) and Titane (2021)", and it argued that both films oversee the emergence of a Posthuman world with catastrophic consequences for their female protagonists, suggesting that our Humanist world is not yet ready to welcome Posthumanism.

Prior to my master's, I graduated from the University of Stirling in June 2021, with a First Class BA (Hons) in Film and Media.  During my time at Stirling University, I undertook modules in Film Production, Reading Film and Television, The Moving Image, Science-Fiction, Global Film and/As Philosophy, and Gender and Representation. I wrote my undergraduate dissertation on Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy - Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World's End (2013) - investigating the correlation between portrayals of comedy, humour and institutional power, through a film-philosophy lens.

Beyond film studies my interests include punk, rock and metal music, Scottish football (I'm a long-suffering supporter of Hibernian football club), and cooking. I have played guitar (poorly) for 10 years, I am an avid reader, and I am currently attempting to complete Assassins Creed II on PS3.

I'm always looking for more content to consume, so if you have any recommendations for films, books or anything else that you think I might enjoy, don't hesitate to drop me a message below.
